The church was standing room only, as this was the main annual conference that attracted people from around the world. I sat on the back row with my family, eagerly awaiting the speaker to deliver a much-needed word. The praises of God’s people intensified as each minute passed. The sanctuary was rife with expectation and tangible miracles.
A woman I had never seen before, a visitor, sat in the row directly in front of me. She turned around and smiled at my children. “A witch,” I said internally. She was seated with her purse occupying the next seat on her right. People were standing, shouting, clapping, and rejoicing in every direction; including my family. She turned around in the seat and offered an entire zip lock bag of candy to my children. I immediately intercepted the bag and said, “Thanks!” I threw the bag in the foyer trash can faster than Jalen Brunson at Game 5 of the 2026 NBA Finals. I returned to my seat, and she was still seated. I stood at my seat and shifted my focus away from the excitement of the service towards this woman. I started praying underneath the melodic flow of the worship team. She reached in her purse and pulled out an amulet and started rubbing it in her right hand. She rapidly tapped her left middle finger and thumb together. Then she started chanting and placed her right hand that was holding the amulet into her purse. From that moment forward she never removed her right hand from the purse. Her right hand was moving in the purse while she continued chanting and tapping. The guest speaker for the conference mounted the pulpit, prayed, then opened his bible, and started the sermon. The woman immediately left the service and I never saw her again.
Words carry undeniable weight. Letters are carefully strung along to create impactful sentences. The intentionality of words is crucial in every facet of life. How we craft our words, direct our words, and meditate on words can drastically change the trajectory of the intended output.
The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.
Proverbs 18:21
Letters and words are the basis for witchcraft as Godly prayers are the basis for righteousness. Letters are powerful symbols and objects, depending on how you use them. The practicing witch seated in front of me directed her word curses to dismantle the progression of the service. She even took time to saturate the candy in demonic chants and tried to distribute the candy to my children. I’d be foolish to believe there are no other powers in the world, but there is no power greater than the Power of CHRIST.
For when he spoke, the world began! It appeared at his command.
Psalm 33:9
God spoke and created. Gossip is created and people are destroyed. The intention of words are powerful. Writing fiction novels is just as powerful. Even though the storyline is fictional, every word is bringing a character to life or ushering in a season of significant change.
