Finding Joy in the Simple Things of Life

The tree in the front yard has shed it’s last leaves this year. We had an arborist cut it down, since it was touching the neighbor’s house. We could have had some limbs removed instead, but it was best to remove it completely since it was so close to property lines. Every year prior, our kids enjoyed playing in a big pile of leaves.

One night after 9 pm, the neighbor comes to our door and notified me that our leaves were within her property line, accused our groundskeeper (landscaper) of purposely not removing those leaves, and she believed the groundskeeper had a vendetta against her. She then proceeded to show me the video footage of 3-4 individuals raking leaves. I didn’t see what she saw. She suggested that I have my tree removed because she has to get the leaves removed every year. There are approximately 13 billion trees and 3 quadrillion leaves in the state of Georgia. The next day I found out my landscaper left behind 30.5 leaves of the 3 quadrillion. I raked those leaves closer within my property line and continued on with my day. One person can see a few leaves and think nothing of it, while another person can see a few leaves and be irritated–annually.

Leaves can travel short and long distances with no human help or intention.

ConditionsTypical Distance
Calm day1–20 feet (0.3–6 m)
Light breeze20–300 feet (6–90 m)
Windy day300 feet–1 mile (90 m–1.6 km)
Strong storm or tornadoSeveral miles to tens of miles
Carried by rivers or floodwatersTens to hundreds of miles

What video camera or person has psychic abilities to read the minds of three to four individuals raking and hauling leaves? Our landscapers are hired for a job, complete the job, and leave. They’ve never mentioned a personal vendetta against the next property. Why would four individuals in a concerted effort try to insult a person with 30.5 leaves? Even the gospels have four different writers with four different perspectives of the ministry of Yeshua. Don’t forget the 9 non-canonical gospels not included in the KJV. The landscapers were not present to defend the accusations against themselves or give an account of what happened or didn’t happen.

I’m truly grateful for the simple things in life. The air that I breathe (YHWH), my family, my failures, my successes, every leaf I’ve raked that didn’t come from my yard, the bees that cross-pollinate and create new flowers within the same species, the rain, the sunshine, my friends, my enemies, and everything that I take for granted–thank you God. It could be worse. Families in the middle east have b-mbs, m-ssles, and dr-nes falling over their heads, while I can enjoy the beauties of nature around me.

On the banks, on both sides of the river, there will grow all kinds of trees for food. Their leaves will not wither… Their fruit will be for food, and their leaves for healing.

Ezekiel 47:12

For you shall go out in joy… the mountains and the hills before you shall break forth into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.

Isaiah 55:12
