Everyone Needs a Praying Sibling

My sons start and end their day with prayer. Normally we pray on the way to school followed by quizzing of school related work. We used to take turns on who prayed in the morning and at night, but now they pray consecutively. Their desire has increased for more prayer. Not only that, their prayer points have become more creative and in-depth, without my leading. The other day one of them said “hey wait! You stole my prayer!”

I didn’t learn how to pray until I was a teenager. The world is darker and full of things I never encountered during my childhood. How to navigate through increased incidence of rape, molestation, lack of identity, drugs, alcohol, prostitution, pornography, racism, human trafficking, and so much more is challenging. With God’s leading you can’t go wrong.

I believe my sons are grasping the necessity of prayer. Last week the flu wiped just about everyone in our household out. The middle child was the first to recover to about 90% functionality. He started praying for his other brothers to be healed. If they could stop arguing then that would be even better, but that’s what siblings do.
